How to contribute

There are 5 ways in which you can support us and help send an underprivileged African child to Camp Uganda:

Donate funds

Become a Partner Camp

Participate in our Annual Fundraiser

Invite our founder to speak to your club, school, group…

Visit our booth at a local craft fair

Donate funds

  • $36 (Cdn) sponsors a child for 1 day
  • $250 (Cdn) sponsors a child for a full 7-day camp

We are very grateful for any amount you are able to contribute!

Note that donations are tax-deductible in Canada and the United States. We issue an official receipt for all donations over $20.

To receive a US tax receipt, you must write a cheque to Earthways, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and write "for Camp Uganda" in the memo section.  Mail your cheques to Earthways Foundation, 20178 Rockport Way, Malibu, CA, 90265

For donations of $250 and above, we will (with your permission) add you to the Sponsors page on our website. If you're an organization or a business, your listing can include a logo and a link to your website.

Become a Partner Camp

Do you run (or know someone who runs) a children's camp? We are inviting other camps to become our Partner Camps. Joining us in this way can not only help us financially, but also create a supportive link between African children and children in other countries.

Here's how it works:

  1. Just add one dollar to your camp fee and let people know what this is for so they can feel good about that extra dollar. Alternatively, add a space to your camp registration form where parents can optionally enter any amount they'd like to donate to help send an underprivileged African child to camp.
  2. At the end of the summer, send the funds collected in the form of a cheque to our mailing address.

Benefits to your camp…

  • Everyone at your camp can take pride knowing that they are helping a less fortunate child in Africa have a similar experience – one that we often take for granted. As you can appreciate, the benefits for a Camp Uganda child are many: increased self-esteem, self-confidence and independence; education in wildlife and habitat conservation; a safe, supportive and nurturing atmosphere for those who experience less of this at home; an increased sense of compassion and caring for other people and animals.
  • If you wish, the children in the two camps can interact, for example, exchanging letters, photos, artwork, etc.
  • For donations upwards of $250, we will list you as a Partner Camp on our website. The listing can include your camp logo and (if you have one) a link to your website. This will provide additional promotion for your camp.
  • If you wish, you can include a statement on your camp brochure / website that you are a Camp Uganda partner, sponsoring underprivileged African children to attend a wildlife education camp in Uganda.
  • If you are a Canadian camp, we will issue an official receipt for income tax purposes.

Participate in our Annual Fundraiser

Every September we hold a fundraising event on Vancouver Island (Canada), near the town of Parksville, BC. If you're in the area, we'd love to have you attend. The event includes African music, door prizes and a Silent Auction. All proceeds go to support Camp Uganda.

For information on our next fundraiser (and other upcoming events), click here.

If you run a business (or know someone who does)… would you consider donating items for the Silent Auction and/or for door prizes? If so, please contact us.

Invite our founder to speak to your club, school, group…

Every year our founder, Haida Bolton, gives a number of talks (including a slide show) on Camp Uganda. If your club, school or group may be interested, simply contact us.

Visit our booth at a local craft fair

Every year we participate in a number of local craft fairs near our home base on Vancouver Island (Canada), near the town of Parksville. At our booth you'll find products from Uganda. All proceeds from these sales go to support Camp Uganda. For a list of upcoming crafts fairs, click here.
